About Us
Welcome to the wonderful world of boating which we define as… “the active pursuit of
windswept pleasure”
Join us at Harbourfront Centre Sailing and Powerboating (HCSP) with partners, family,
and friends and discover the romance of the water and the freedom of boating.
We are dedicated to delivering excellence in boating instruction as well as making
boating accessible to Toronto residents, and visitors from around the world through
instruction, membership and rental programs.
We provide unrivalled access to the water from its downtown Toronto location
immediately south of the Skydome. The range of services include instruction, rentals,
membership, local & worldwide yacht charter, Caribbean sailing, corporate teambuilding
and kids sailing camps in association with Harbourfront Centre. Our fleet of almost 50
boats ranges from 7' to 47' in length and includes 9 J24's and 17 powerboats between 13'
and 26'.
Once you’ve acquired the basics, boating can be whatever you want it to be. It offers a
sense of freedom that captures the imagination, and holds your spirit for a lifetime.
Make your dreams become a reality as you begin your journey of on-water adventure in
the heart of our city! We can provide you with the gateway into a whole new world of

We are always looking for great photos and as we continue to develop our new website over the coming months we would like some input from our membership. All pictures can be sent to ewright@harbourfrontcentre.com and the best will be recognised in our next newsletter, put up in the club for all to see, and submitted for potential placement on our site.

A big thank-you to those of you that helped us on Saturday, April 24th at the Spring
Work Party. This day was a great success and your time and efforts are much appreciated.
Our goal was to initiate the set up of the J fleet and help our members become more
familiar with these boats. The outcome was fantastic with a great turn out, and 6 J’s
complete and ready to go for the season.
One of our members Ramy Nassar, really enjoyed the day, and after the work had finished,
found it to be the perfect afternoon to get out for a quick first sail of the season.
He took a ton of photographs during the day, and out on the water. If you would like to
view these he has posted them on his gallery at: www.brightlightsphotography.ca/galleries/sailworkparty

The roots of the business go back over 20 years...and we have members who can tell
stories from the early years.
Our first sailing school and club was established around 1980. In those days the
Toronto waterfront area was a wasteland compared to the urban design which is currently
being developed. There was more of a blur between members and staff back then and it
seems like on weekends the club truly was a cottage in the city.
Around 1990 the business was sold, and it became known as Harbourside Boating Centre.
Things expanded, both in terms of number and type of boats. A number of Bluenoses were
added which were classic wooden sailing vessels. The owner was quite a character and
many stories are still told of his activities at the helm of the business.
In 1997 the assets and goodwill of the Harbourside Boating Centre were purchased by
Queen's Quay Yachting and the modern age began. In May 2008, the business was purchased
by Harbourfront Centre Corporation, and has continued to flourish with the continuing
development of the waterfront.
